WHAT WE DO

LINANGIN: CAPACITY-BUILDING INITIATIVES

Komunida Initiative Empowers Digital Youth in Santa Rosa

On August 18th, Komunida Initiative achieved a remarkable milestone in its mission to empower Filipino youth through digital literacy. Komunida proudly hosted the #Digitalino Digital Literacy Training, a resounding success that catered to Grade 9 and Grade 12 students from Santa Rosa Science And Technology High School. This event saw an impressive turnout, with over 200 students, parents, and teachers eagerly participating.

In today's digital age, the ability to navigate the vast landscape of online information is nothing short of essential. It is both alarming and eye-opening to discover that, among the 92.05 million social media users in the Philippines, nearly 51% struggle to identify fake news and misinformation. Recognizing the urgency of this issue, we designed the #Digitalino Digital Literacy Training program to equip young minds with the skills they need to discern fact from fiction in the digital realm.

As August marks the beginning of a new school year, Komunida recognized the importance of supporting the Santa Rosa Science And Technology High School community. In this spirit, they also donated essential cleaning materials to aid the school's Brigada Eskwela program, ensuring that students and teachers have a safe and conducive environment for learning.

Additionally, Komunida extends its graitutde to Limitless Lab, the ASEAN Foundation, Google, and the Break the Fake Movement for their unwavering commitment to making the #Digitalino initiative a reality.

Looking ahead, they are excited to announce their plans for continued collaboration with Santa Rosa Science And Technology High School throughout the year. Komunida's shared goal is to empower Filipino youth not only in the digital sphere but also in various aspects of their lives, helping them unlock their full potential.
